Feature: Meet 5 Of Rolex’s Most Famous Fans

Voted for by you as the most desirable watch brand out there, it is no surprise that the triumphant Rolex has a host of famous fans under its belt too. Stars from music, sport and even politics have all rocked and continue to rock the beloved crown, but just who are they? Let’s find out…

John Mayer

The American musician and self-professed watch nerd and collector unveiled his favourite timepieces back in 2013. One he described as not unique, not special but “just great” was the timeless Rolex Daytona. The 6263 received high praise from Mayer, which he said was “the only vintage Daytona you’ll ever need”—and of course, in true rockstar style, he prefers the black dial.

Roger Federer

One of the longest standing relationships between a tennis pro and a watch brand, it just so happens that Federer is Swiss-made just like his favourite watchmaker. Federer has sported a variety of Rolex watches over his career, most notably the Oyster Perpetual Datejust II he wore at the 2009 Wimbledon trophy ceremony where he smashed Peter Sampras’ all-time Grand Slam win.

Michael Bublé

It’s November, which means Christmas is on the horizon and so it’s only right that Mr Christmas himself is on the list—no, not Santa Claus but Grammy winner, Michael Bublé. The Canadian crooner was gifted a Rolex from his record label upon the success of his debut album—an Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona, with a baby blue dial and platinum bracelet.

Barack Obama

Although he often wore more affordable watches during his presidency from 2009 to 2017, once out of office it seems Obama treated himself to a more high-end piece. Still, it seems he went for one of Rolex’s more left-field choices, opting for the understated Cellini—the perfect watch for fans of clean, minimalist style.

Chris Evert

Making her Wimbledon debut in 1972 at just 17 years old, Evert went on to win a whopping 18 Grand Slam titles during her impressive career. It’s fitting, then, that she opted for the official sponsors of Wimbledon—Rolex—as her brand of choice, wearing a Rolex Datejust. A clear fan of the crown, she said “when I look at my watch, I see an exclusive club that I’m very, very honoured to be in”.
