Its iconic square case is instantly recognisable today, with a cult appeal and firm fan in the late Hollywood actor Steve McQueen. A product of founder Jack Heuer’s desire to create something “out-of-the-box”, it was the first of its shape to guarantee waterproofness. With this in mind, Jack Heuer was immediately drawn to the case and negotiated exclusive rights to this design with designer Erwin Piquerez, which he eventually trademarked. There are only 1,000 pieces of this limited-edition Monaco which celebrates Tag Heuer’s relationship with the Grand Prix Historique de Monaco. The exclusive red sunray dial makes sure that this watch stands out from the crowd and with the in-house Heuer 02 movement—visible through the open case back—this piece packs an impressive 80-hour power reserve.
